Fall Break
I've been super lazy about posting lately. However, my excuse is that I don't have much to write about. I'm sure that none of you want to hear about how I spent all day sitting around the library reading for torts or contracts or crim law. I'm sure you also don't want to hear about my week-long memo writing battle. It just doesn't make for interesting topics. It's certainly a hell of a lot less interesting than taking the beast out on a hack, having a fantastic jump lesson, or having to wrestle a wild Taz into the barn from the far paddock.
Anyway, I'm on fall break right now. This sounds like it would be a nice, relaxing time where I could lounge around all day not worrying about law school. Unfortunately, that's not the case. It's certainly more relaxing than being in class, but I'm using the time to read and start outlining a bit, so it's not exactly a break. HOWEVER, I have decided to cut myself a little slack, and I plan on going to the movies today after I read for civ pro. I haven't just cut out and gone to the movies since I got down here, and I really want to see that new Joseph Gordon-Leavitt film.
So, that's my [super boring] fall break. I went a little wild yesterday and read crim law in market square. The weather is finally not quite so oppressively hot, and I decided I should enjoy it...
not a bad place to study...
This isn't market square... it's at World's fair park, which I pass on my way back to my apartment.

"Aime-moi moins, mais aime-moi longtemps."
Roughly... "Love me less, but love me a long time"
It's the last line from Les Chansons D'Amour... a fantastic movie that you should see if you get the chance.
(well, only if you like French musicals)

Knoxville Life
The Vols may have gone down in the Swamp yesterday, but I'm still proud to be a Tennessee Vol!
The fountain/pond in front of the stage at World's Fair Park
To the best of my knowledge, that is also part of World's Fair Park. I could be wrong, but it's a pretty little area nonetheless.
Under the bridge at World's Fair Park, there are mosaics from a few different "National Cancer Survivor Days".

"We're going to Be Friends"
Dee has a new buddy. No, I don't mean a four-legs-and-fur variety buddy.
I got an e-mail from B on Tuesday, which was all well and good (the boys are doing fabulously and so is B) until the last line of the e-mail, which said "I hear your mare needs a new person".
WHAT!?
I picked up the phone immediately and dialed L to figure out the deal there. Did they hate her? Was she naughty?
Thankfully, it turned out to be a case of "girl starts college and decides she doesn't want to ride that much or work at the barn". Even more thankfully? Apparently H has taken a liking to miss Dee and jumped on the chance to take over the ride on her. He wants to do some dressage, but also some little jumper/hunter shows with her, which is exciting. As L put it to me, "H has a new little buddy and he loves it".
I can't even tell you how good it makes me feel that someone is enjoying her so much. I mean, this summer I kept talking about how much fun she is now, but to hear that someone else thinks so too makes me very happy!

Quick Update
So, while Dee's squealy, hormone-raging behavior had subsided when she was put on Regumate again, she apparently kept presenting with a slight lameness behind. The vet came out to look at the foot, and determined that there was some inflammation in the foot. I guess they figured it was probably from when she pulled a shoe, thinking maybe the shoe twisted and caused some irritation. They immediately began soaking and packing the foot (which I hear went over REALLY well. She refused to walk for awhile after they wrapped the foot... diva mare.)
According to the e-mail I got today, it turned out to be an abscess, which has since blown out. She is now perfectly sound again. THANK GOD.
I found these pictures on my phone today... I think I took them about a week before she moved to NY.
